CommunityEstablishing a caring community is the first step towards establishing a positive classroom environment. My philosophy of teaching emphasizes cultivating a positive community. I believe that when students feel welcomed, supported, and needed in the classroom, they are more likely to engage in classroom activities.

RecoveryRecovery with accountability is a strategy teachers use to monitor students who are not meeting the expectations. My philosophy of teaching believes that any type of discipline should preserve the dignity of each student. Although discipline is necessary, I believe that it should be done appropriately, effectively, and respectfully.

Life SkillsIt is important that classroom management is approached in a way that cultivates the social and emotional literacy in each student. My philosophy of teaching believes in the incredible platform that I have been given as a teacher. Therefore, it is my goal to cultivate students who are compassionate, self-aware, and inspired to be positive agents for change in this world.

Somewhere Else to PlanMore often than not, learning happens outside four walls of the classroom. My philosophy of teaching believes that it is important for me to be aware of the resources available outside of the classroom to advocate for student success within the classroom.

Wraparound SupportWraparound support is an additional way to provide encouragement and support for my students. My philosophy of teaching strives to build a community of support around each student. There should be a village behind each individual. Therefore, it is essential that I make the families and friends of my students my own allies so that we can effectively advocate for student success.
